There are eight listed advantages of federalism on the American Federalism: Pro and Con document. I have chosen number two: “Encourage experimentation on new policies and programs” (American Federalism: Pro and Con). The one advantage to a national policy that must be implemented by one agency of the federal bureaucracy is experimentation. A successful experiment can improve the quality of the policy outcome in states or it can hurt the quality of the policy caused in states. There is two type of policy: “costly state experimentation” or “selfish experimentation”, according to Nudging Federalism toward Productive Experimentation. All in all, experimentation to a national policy must be implemented by the one agency of the federal bureaucracy to try or to accept new policies and new laws.

I have chosen number one: “Confuses [or] inconvenience [of] citizens who face different laws as they do business in different states or move from state to state”(American Federalism: Pro and Con). The one disadvantage to a national policy that must not be implemented by one agency of the federal bureaucracy is preventing uniformity of laws. Every state has right to adopt any policy or any law without the federal government interference, however, that causes problems for the citizens who face different laws moving to the state to state.
