In his article “3 Reasons College Still Matters” author Andrew Delbanco attempts to convince his audience the reasons college is still important in order to obtain a high education, in this case three main reasons. He discusses many other’s points of view on college and why people think college is irrelevant to ones future career. People largely had similar reasons to why college is not important; the people who do not attend college mostly say that college is a waste of valuable time and or resources. Delbanco does indeed address these assumptions to why people think college is not important. His argument is aimed towards an audience of people that may consist of those like high school graduates looking to further their education in college
Some might say that college is a wastes of time and it doesn’t help anyone. Then try convince us that we should focus on our works skills and experience than wasting precious time on college. Also they will point out that college causes you to receive debt. Its true college will cause some debt but it is worth in the long run when people can be financially stable and not have to worry about many things in life, not have to struggle through life.
Is going to college worth it? Going to college is very important, as some people may argue that it isn 't, it is the highlight of your life and your future ahead of you. people who argue that college is worth it said that “college graduates have higher employment rates, bigger salaries, and more work benefits than high school graduates.” more and more jobs require college degrees, jobs requiring college degrees grew by 187,000. This is where the money comes in, college grads earned $30,000 more per year than a high school graduate, or about $500,000 more over a lifetime.
Though there are many individuals who believe that college is not for everyone, attending college and getting a higher education can open the gates to many tremendous life changing opportunities such as becoming healthier, begin able to secure jobs, and earning more financially.
Attending a community college was not always my number one choice for my college life after high school. I had always dreamed of attending a university once I graduated high school. Delta State was always high on my list of schools to attend, especially now that I have matured and experienced the first two years of my college journey. Attending community college was the fiscally responsible move for me after high school graduation. The two years I have spent at Itawamba Community College has given me the experience to take the next step towards my career goals; attending and graduating from a university.
When it comes to college, many people find themselves wondering whether it’s really worth it. The answer? Yes! With benefits such as higher pay and better job options, the value of a college education cannot be denied.
Going to college would be great for my future. Today, it is hard to get a good paying job without a degree or some type of higher education. Some people, however, believe that college doesn't matter and is a waste of time. If college was a waste of time, then nothing good would come out of it. Students graduate high school with dreams of becoming doctors, teachers, engineers, etc.
Six year ago when I started college, I thought it was just going to make me four years straight with no problems, but about half-way in, I found out I was pregnant with the first child. At the time, I was still in community college and had 8 classes to graduate. Since I was working full time, I thought of holding off on school till the baby was grown because I could not afford quitting work. After so much thought and sorting out of my priorities, I decided that attaining my education was very important and I was going to do everything in my power to achieve it. I decided on working part-time and cutting back on some luxuries so that I can continue going to school full-time.
It has taken many years for people in society to break out of the norms and expectations of how to grow up and live in the world. A huge factor in this “revolution”: attending college. Whether it is taking a gap year to discover the world and the waiting opportunities, or simply running with it all after high school to work, attending college isn’t considered a given anymore. Now not all cases are the same for every person, therefore they can only decide what is the best path for them after high school. Still, the benefits of a being a college graduate will never be diminished.
Our educational system is failing us. The United States of America is supposed to be the “greatest” country in the world but statistics are showing that our government/educational system is failing us; children/young adults of the nation. Being a student of a middle ranked school in Arizona, I personally have had a first-hand feel for how good and/or bad teaching affects students. Just in high school I have had teachers that would just assign websites as our lesson and even teachers that sit at their desk for the whole hour; don’t even go over the mindset, homework, and maybe only show one problem so that we’ll know what the homework will be like. Until sophomore year I didn’t even know the differences between you’re, your, too, and to.
According to Mr.Autor, college is free because of the money you gain when you get out from jobs; make up for the loss of money for college (qtd in. Leonhardt). Not going to college will cost you a half of million in the long run (Leonhardt). According to Leonhardt, the statistics say, if there were more college graduates, the prices would not be so high.
When it comes to attending college, there is always a variety of people saying it 's the best decision one can make. On the other hand, there 's always a select few who don 't agree with the idea of actually going to college. Don 't get me wrong, college does have its advantages and disadvantages, but when it comes to creating a solid foundation of financial stability - institutes and two year programs are the best routes to go when seeking success and opportunities. Some of the perks of furthering your education after high school are that you 're able to live a more comfortable lifestyle, earn a higher income, and have endless job opportunities within the field you decide to major in. Education is a huge issue that not only affects kids and their parents, but their community as well. Schools teach young kids to become the next generation of engineers, technicians, and political leaders, working towards creating a better future for their country and their community. Teachers have the unique job of creating the future leaders of the world, and preparing them for both college and life beyond, by putting a special push towards math and science, the so-called “foundation” of our society. The hard truth is, no one can be anything they want to be. Some people are simply not cut out to be engineers, doctors, or psychologists.
