“You is kind, you is smart, you is important” was stated in the movie, The Help. This movie, took place in the 1960’s, right after slavery ended. The movie is told by the point of view of two black women, Aibileen Clark and Minny Jackson, and one white woman, Skeeter. The movie shows the struggles of post-discrimination that black people faced when slavery “ended”. It shows all of the backlash that black maids working in rich white homes faced. Skeeter was raised by a lovely black maid and she hated the way her maid was treated, so Skeeter seeked change. Skeeter wrote a book told from black maids point of view with the help of Aibileen Clark and Minny Jackson. These women tried to help stop the post-discrimination. She was surrounded by people whom did not like the things she did and how she let her maids act. Society dictated her into kicking out her maid and the maid’s daughter. The women around Charlotte told her that they would not accept the way that Constantine’s daughter was acting, so even though Charlotte did not want to fire the Constantine, she did.
