Throughout the years there have been many tyrannical rulers. Although these leaders have very abusive regimes many of them stay in power because of use of manipulative methods. In George Orwells Animal Farm these methods are demonstrated in an allegory of the Russian Revolution. In this novella a farm of animals work together to revolt against their owner Mr Jones in order to escape his tyrannical rule. However, in doing so a pig by the name of Napoleon gains power and treats the animals just as Mr Jones did before the revolution.
In the book Animal Farm George Orwell sets the scene with the animals do hard back breaking work for little to no rations, who’s in charge who has the power to fix all of it? After being inspired by Old Major speech The animals on the farm rebelled and won against farmer Jones. A pig named Napoleon took control as a sole dictator and after a long reign you couldn’t tell the difference between the pigs and a humans. The first technique Napoleon used was propaganda to his advantage, he also used his power and animalism to bend the rules and finally Napoleon used fear to keep his power. Napoleon used propaganda to stay in charge.
Animal Farm uses the theme to start the book and shows how people, or animals in this case, can come together to fight oppression and tyranny. The animals become inspired by a speech given by a respected elder and the pigs take control of a group rebellion to overthrow the farmer. They believe that in this movement they will free themselves from the slavery they endure and become their own masters. ‘"Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? Only get rid of Man, and the produce of our labour would be our own.
Before the revolution on the farm, Old Major taught the animals on the farm what he foresaw in the future for animal farms and taught Napoleon and Snowball his methods so they could teach the other animals after his passing. “Old Major was so highly regarded on the farm that everyone was quite ready to lose an hour’s sleep to hear what he had to say. Our comrades are the answer to all of our problems. It is summed up in a single word: Man. Man is the only enemy we have.
Animal farm written by George Orwell tells the story of the Russian revolution through the eyes and actions of farm animals. The animals revolt against their farmer Mr.Jones in order to stop the cruelty being inflicted on them. In a turn of events the new leader Napoleon also starts to treat the animals unfairly. We see in the last chapter the quote “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig… but already it was impossible to say which was which”. Showing the cycle the animalism tried to break when they revolted has been repeated once again.

I read a book called, “Animal Farm” written by George Orwell. The book is about animals on a farm who are overworked and aren 't treated well. Then, an insurgency made up of animals with pigs as their leaders, rebel against Mr.Jones (owner of the farm) by driving him off his farm. The animals try to make the perfect life for themselves, but that doesn’t go as planned. The animal farm then starts to fail.
Thesis Statement: Dictators Create decisions for what can be said and done. The animals in the novel Animal Farm had created a set of commandments that all the animals had to follow, then one day the group Napoleon and the other pigs broke the fourth commandment by sleeping in beds, the Animals on the farm read the commandment and it decreed “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets” (Orwell 67). The quote supports the thesis for the reason that Napoleon has changed the rules so that he is not breaking them, so that the other animals will not be tempted to confiscate Napoleon's power. The statement supports the quote because Napoleon decision to change the fourth commandment. Napoleon changes the fourth commandment without the vote of the other animals which leaves the animals no choice but to go along with the change for the reason that the animals have been brain washed.
Since the animals were like blindfolded, no one made the connection between Boxer's being taken away and the pigs suddenly having more money. The contrast between what the animals believe, what the narrator actually is talking about, and what the reader knows to be the truth, fills one with an anger. (“Animal Farm: Animals Irony”) Animal Farm satirises the breakdown of political ideology and the misuse of power. The major players are animals but their failings are all recognisably human. They begin with an idealistic attempt to form a new society, liberated from the tyranny of humans and founded on the principle of equality and freedom for everyone, but it all goes wrong as the pigs take over.
The period of enlightenment transpired in the eighteenth century and it bolstered logic and the use of the scientific method in order to investigate beliefs that had been “truths” asserted by a religion. For instance, Christian scriptures declared to believers that the Earth was at the center of the universe and were shamed if they believed otherwise. However, the period of enlightenment induced people to question these principles and led to intellect over faith. It is relevant to note that “Philosophy aligned itself with the pure and natural sciences, and metaphysics was subsumed into scientific hypothesis and theorization” (R&H,26). Science proved to Christians that the Earth was in fact not at the center of the universe, so believers questioned
Animal Farm by George Orwell is a story about animals that rebel against their owners on a farm. They then try to solve problems on how to run a farm. One theme in this story is ”Not everyone is equal; some people believe that they are more superior than others.” This theme is demonstrated by Napoleon, he’s a dictator and makes all the rules in the farm to fit his needs. Another theme in this story is “People deserve to have their own thoughts and ideas.

The adjective suggests an attitude that is controlled by propaganda, the denial of truth, and manipulation of the past. In George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm, George Orwell develops his ideas about the Russian Revolution through a highly satirical story written in the form of a fable. The characters represent actual people in history during the Russian Revolution, which took place in the years between 1917 to 1944, as it talks about a story of a farm rebelling against a human owner and establishes their own way of running the farm, which was effected by Old Major’s speech who talked about a society where all workers led the society, with no actual leader. However, imbalance of power occur as the pigs, who are the smartest of the animals gain influence by supervising other animals to work.
The plot to revolt commences when Old Major, a boar, gives a speech addressing a dream he has had the previous night. He asks the crowd, “Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings?” (Orwell 4). Old Major is stating that all of the problems in the lives of the animals are caused by the cruelty of humans. The animals demanded a revolution at once.
Animal Farm is a book about farm animals who no longer wish to serve as “slaves” to the humans, and have accepted the fact that they must start a revolution in order to successfully become free animals, away from all human contact and human ways of living. However, as expected there is always one person that craves the power, superiority and ambition. Throughout the short novel, I was shocked how relative these political allegories were to both our past and present lives. Three chapters stood out to me the most, one being chapter 2 which revolved around introducing the seven commandments, chapter 6, which sees the first revision of a commandment behind everyone’s back, and chapter 10 which ends with the animals no longer telling the difference
