L11 Assignment 1. Using the analytical tools of his economic realism, how would Richard Posner argue that the majority opinion in Penn Central v. New York City makes sense? Why would Morris Cohen agree or disagree? The only place we could find had two 8’ by 10’ rooms, but we took it. We started up the 18” wide creaky stairs and found our antique rooms with floors leaning to the point marbles would roll. I began to have some concern for our safety, but others were just laughing. The conveniences were substandard, with one separate public bathroom for the floor.
On the overpass leading into Yonkers is a large sign which states "GENERATION Y" short for generation Yonkers. After some research I found out that this was a plan to revitalize Yonkers. Mayor Mike Spano has approved for one billion dollars to be used fix up downtown Yonkers, focusing on the riverfront, in order to attract young business men and women. The idea in itself is wonderful. Not only are they fixing up dilapidated buildings, they are also bringing in new businesses that will stimulate the economy.
There has been a lot of changes throughout New Amsterdam history. In 1609 until the year of 1664 there has been dramatic changes in history that has brought the country together in unity overtime. During this time in history many explorers had sailed across the ocean in hopes of discovering something that no one else had before. One such explorer was Henry Hudson, who went on an expedition to find a faster route to supplies that he and other people in the New Netherlands needed. Hudson made his first voyage from England in 1607 where he then tried to find a “shorter route around to Asia from Europe and through the Arctic Ocean” (History, 2009).

Globalization has drastically modified how various cultures and societies affect each other. The disturbances caused by globalization have developed several issues among anthropologists, such as, how do we study such complex circumstances? Transnational families and global nationalism in particular, have introduced foreign obstacles for anthropologists, as there is no set, scientific ways to study such realities. With globalization presenting an ever changing world, both single and multi sited field work have its place, as anthropology is not limited by a specific set of rules such as scientific study.
South Bronx in the 70´s If we talk about the South Bronx in the 70´s, we can found a lot of graffiti, music, poverty, violence, racism, drugs but for understanding what was going on and why all those things where happening, we need to understand what was going on behind that, and how that marginalized an entire community and how the hip hop began. First of all, we need to understand that the Bronx became one of the community where is mostly immigrants that arrive after World War I and World War II. One other important factor was the construction of the Cross Bronx Expressway, a major freeway, this was one of the key factors for the decay of the Bronx, because the highway displaced thousands of residents from their homes, even parts of neighborhoods was completely destroy after they finish building the highway.

N-YHS holds 66,000 unique subway construction photographs that provide a wealth of information on the built environment of the city, including buildings that had to be demolished to dig the routes and the public spaces that were forever altered. The New York City subway system is the largest subway network in the country, and its construction – in three separate phases – constitutes one of the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken by any U.S. metropolitan area. The photographs capture streetscapes and the rhythms of daily life in the city; document engineering technologies during a transitional era in which manual and animal labor coexisted with new, mechanized approaches; and depict the growth of the modern city and its ever more diverse population.
