Wild horse roundups became more frequent as the population of wild horses began to increase. The methods used for roundups included, “Using low flying planes and mounted armed cowboys, commercial contractors rounded up horses and reduced their numbers on the range” (Aksentijevich). Many times planes and helicopters fly low and while men on four-wheelers chase and spook the wild horses and separate them into groups, “The process includes chasing down entire herds with a helicopter, trapping them and separating the horses based on gender and age instead of by family units” (Boetel). In Why Women Still Can’t Have it all, Slaughter’s primary argument focuses on the seemingly unattainable balance between a woman’s ability to continue having a high-level profile job while keeping a stable family life. This issue comes up due to the intense time demand of each task, and whether being there for your children is more important than keeping a high level professional job. Slaughter speaks about this issue with certain examples from Washington D.C., but also includes personal examples. She explained how the more successful she became in life, the less time she had for her family, she did not even have time to go to the grocery store on time, but had to go to the stores that were “open 24 hours” for the two years she worked at
The great herds were not decimated overnight. The slaughter was a gradual process, reaching its full momentum in the 1870s. The Native Americans of the Great Plains had relied upon and hunted buffalo for thousands of years. Without the arrival of the Caucasians—and with them the gun, the horse, and the market for bison products—it seems likely the Indians could have lived sustainably with the bison far into the future.
THE GREEN RIVER KILLER The most horrid crime of all; serial killing. The murder of three or more individuals classify the category of serial murder(FBI). There has to be a period of time between the murders to fully distinguish it as a serial murder. The Walking Dead: The History Behind It Hunter-gatherers (also known as foragers) have generally been defined as those living "in societies that sustain themselves by foraging, hunting, and fishing" and for a long time, considered to be living in groups of "relatively peaceful societies" such as the Kalahari Bushmen (Who Are The Hunter-Gatherers?). However, Richard Wrangham in "Killer Species" notes that "scrutiny of early records of contact with hunter-gatherers shows widespread evidence of primitive violence. In fact, James Gorman in "Prehistoric Massacre Hints at War Among Hunter-Gatherers" argues that the discovery of "one group of hunter-gatherers [that] attacked and slaughtered another . . . [with] unmistakable signs of violent death . . . may be [hinting at] a massacre in a foraging society."
Dear Mr. Cole, Once a man said, “There never has been a country on this Earth that has fallen except when that point was reached…where the citizens would say, ‘We cannot get justice in our courts.’”. Around a generation ago, it was the time of the Roaring Twenties, flap dancers, innovation and excitement, and increased social and civil liberties. It was also the time of the first World War, prohibition, and injustices. The most prominent and unspoken of being the Osage Murders. During the 1920’s, there was a series of malicious and clinical murders of Native Americans for their headright money.
The slaughter of the bison played a big factor in the Plains Indian’s removal to the reservations. The bison was a way of life for the nomadic tribes of the plains; it was a source of food, shelter, fuel, and a central part of their religion and rituals (Roark 540). While a way of life for the Indians, bison for the white Americans were not. Even though the army took credit for the conquest of the Plains Indians, it was mostly the destruction of the bison herd that the victory is due to (Roark 540). In 1867, more than five thousand Comanches, Kiowas, and Southern Arapahos gathered at Medicine Lodge Creek in Kansas to negotiate a treaty, and signed the treaty agreeing to move to reservations (Roark 540).

Communal living flourished in United States during the Countercultural movement in the 1960s and early 1970s [1, 2]. The members of the communes had rejected the unsatisfying institutions of the American society [1, 3, 4], and were seeking a new community structure that would meet their existential and philosophical needs [1, 6], including gender equality [5]. However, male and female members of most communes were treated differently in the general distribution of manual labour and traditional gender roles were reinforced. The female members were assigned the domestic labour, such as cleaning, cooking and sewing [2, 6-12], while men were in charge of the physical job including the harvest of crops, carpentry, hunting, the construction of infrastructures, tin work and transport of heavy loads [6, 11, 12].
“You were surprised that I recognized your name, You see, I read all books on hunting published in English, French, and Russian. ”(p.4, Richard Connell) This use of direct characterization shows that Rainsford is a smart, educated man, considering he has written a known book about hunting. In the story Rainsford also says “Thank you, I’m a hunter, not a murderer. ”(p.6, Richard Connell)
