MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--The West Virginia University baseball team split a doubleheader with Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon at Monongalia County Ballpark. “Doubleheaders are such a beating,” WVU head coach Randy Mazey said. “At 5:30 this afternoon we were up 8-1 and as soon as that game ended they made up a seven run deficit. “The score goes to 0-0, they catch life and come out swinging the bats, and that’s why every coach in the world tries to avoid doubleheaders at all cost because the team that loses the first game has the momentum going into the second game just cause they tied it up. They came out swinging; you have to give them credit.
Hattie Big Sky Hattie Big Sky is about a sixteen year old girl who receives a letter from her late uncle that says that he has a homestead in Minnesota for her. Hattie agrees to move so she can finally stop being Hattie Here-and-There, and start being herself with a place she can finally call home. The anecdote is about what happens when she is living on the claim. Kirby Larson transcribed Hattie Big Sky, which Larson based off of her great-grandmother’s claim out west. Hattie has rough times in Montana, however, Hattie earns friends and gives it her all.
Timothy Brook’s book, Vermeer’s Hat: The Seventeenth Century and the Dawn of the Global World, captures the increasing global interconnectedness during the seventeenth century by examining the artwork of the famous Dutch artist who lived during this time, and used his paintings as clues to determine the impact of the beginnings of globalization. Brook, a specialist in Chinese history, finds himself in Delft and comes across the remains of the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer and tracks down his thirty five paintings to get a sense of life during the seventeenth century. Timothy Brook’s central argument is that global consciousness began in the seventeenth century with the voyaging of Dutch traders, and the essence of the era, the new goods introduced to new markets, and the conflicts among

The Rosendale Trestle is a 940-foot (290 m) continuous truss bridge and former railroad trestle in Rosendale in Ulster County, New York. Originally constructed by the Wallkill Valley Railroad to continue its rail line from New Paltz to Kingston, the bridge rises 150 feet (46 m) above Rondout Creek, spanning both Route 213 and the former Delaware and Hudson Canal. Construction began in 1870; when it opened to rail traffic on April 6, 1872, it was the highest span bridge in the United States. The trestle was rebuilt in 1895 by the King Bridge Company to address public concerns regarding its stability and sturdiness, and it was repeatedly reinforced until 1977, when Conrail closed the Wallkill Valley rail line. The bridge was sold in 1986 for

Crazy Horse or Cha-O-Ha (“In the Wilderness” or “Among the Trees”) was a Native American war leader of the Oglala Lakota. He took up arms against the U.S. Federal Government to fight them for encroachments on the territories and way of life of the Lakota people. This leads to a victory at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in June 1876. Four months after surrendering to General Cook in May of 1877, Crazy Horse was fatally wounded. He was wounded by a military guard while allegedly resisting imprisonment at Camp Robinson in present day Nebraska.
In “Hatshepsut”: His Majesty, Herself by Catherine Andronik, She informs the reader about Hatshepsut and her role as an effective female Pharaoh in ancient Egypt. One supporting detail proving her leadership was she acted as a regent, “an adult who could take control of the country.” Another detail is in paragraph 11, the text states, “She appointed officials and advisors; dealt with the priests; appeared in public ceremonies first behind, then beside, and eventually in front of her nephew.” This quote explains the idea that she was a leader.
The North Berwick Witch Trials began in 1590 and carried on till 1592. Many people that came from East Lothian, Scotland, including several nobles of the Scottish court. The questionable witches were incriminated for holding their covens on the Auld Kirk Green in the village of North Berwick, East Lothian which is near Edinburgh. Witchcraft wasn't a problem nor a concern at first but the events following made some very drastic changes in East Lothian, Scotland. A year or so preceding to the events was a time where King James VI of Scotland, was very merciful when it came to witchcraft.
Timothy Brook, wrote the book “Vermeer’s Hat” to construct history through the examination of paintings, or objects within paintings. Brook quotes James Elkins who argues that paintings are like puzzles. The puzzle needs to be solved to satisfy the world’s confusion. He also conceders a painting to be a window into the past, that shows differences and similarities. He points out the mechanical discoveries such as the magnetic compass, paper and gunpowder has changed the world.
We’re all sentimental. It’s simply human nature to care about what you have and what has been given to you. People cherish all different types of items be it old, new, expensive, or found on the side of the street. Everyone has that one special item, and for me that item is my hats. I’ll admit that it sounds a bit odd.

The Red Pyramid also known as the “shining pyramid” is known for containing an appearance of reddish colored limestone. Originally the red colored limestone was a layer on the core of the pyramid and above it was a layer white sandstone that over the years disintegrated. Now only the reddish colored limestone is shown and intact. During construction of the Red Pyramid Snefru wanted to make the Red pyramid more compacted with extra layers of limestone and sandstone. Also he wanted the pyramid to have a much smoother and straighter sides and vertices.
