The Food Industry affects obesity of teenagers. Many sources support this point of view. Before getting deeper into the topic, background information should be known to have a better understanding of the issue. A large percentage of teens are overweight and even obese. However, the place where the cycle begins is where the food comes from. The food industry makes the food. If it is researched further into, there will be many clues that secrets are being kept from consumers. Firstly, the food industry is slowly killing people for money. Mark Bittman, American food journalist, author, and columnist for The New York Times, supports this in his text, “Parasites, Killing Their Hosts.” Bittman states, "...what you eat... is processed beyond recognition... Michael Moss talks about this in his article, “The Extraordinary Science of Addictive Junk Food.” He states, "...the industry’s formulations — from the body’s fragile controls on overeating to the hidden power of some processed foods to make people feel hungrier still..."
