Don Quixote Irony

Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes is a parody novel telling the story of a knight who has gone mad and his bizarre adventures. The novel, Don Quixote, is unusual as it mocks the idea of knights with ludicrous scenarios as examples. Miguel’s novel, Don Quixote, has interesting literary elements that need to be deeply inspected which is why this essay will be focusing on literary elements of the story Don Quixote. The tone of the story Don Quixote is irony as Miguel is mocking Quixote in the novel, yet he understands him oddly enough. “Over this sort of folderol the poor gentleman lost his wits,” Cervantes, M. The line prior to the quote holds a passage from one of the books which Quixote and Miguel are basically ridiculing Quixote by saying that his literary choice is poor but also saying that

Quixote has gone mad due to his poor literary choice yet Cervantes understands why a passage like this would lead Quixote due to insanity. Don Quixote, the novel, takes place in a village called La Mancha and an inn which is frequently mentioned in the story. “In a village of La,”Cervantes, M. D. (1615). Don Quixote.This clearly states the story is taking place. The village of La Mancha is thought to have been located in the Spanish countryside due to descriptions. The inn that is mentioned frequently in the story is where Don Quixote stays when he left home on one of his adventure. Don Quixote isthought to have been taken place in the 16th or 17th century Spain though there is no proof of this except for the books release date which was in 1615. The purpose of Don Quixote is to ridicule the ideas of chivalry and knights. The author has stated since the beginning that he thinks that chivalrous book that Don Quixote has been reading is a waste of time. The novel could be trying show that people should spend their time reading material that will be beneficial to their knowledge later in life than reading books that are unrealistic that lead one to
