Alonso Quijano has read many books about the tales of chivalry and romance; he became obsessed and fixated with re-living life has a knight. He became Don Quixote of La Mancha because he wanted to be known a noble and honorable knight.
Quixote sees life through the eyes of a knight. While traveling the countryside his mission in life is to seek adventure and find a lord who will dub him a knight. He puts on make shift armor and seeks to helps those in need and punish the guilty. Quixote is motivated by proving he is worthy of becoming a noble knight. He chooses Sancho Panza as his squire. Quixote promises Panza the opportunity to be the governor of his island. Panza accepts Quixote’s offer to become his squire out of greed, curiosity and adventure. So, the two men with their adventurous spirits venture off in search of making Quixote a noble knight. In the beginning their personalities clashed. Panza believes Quixote is crazy, but continues to follow him because he wonders what he’ll do next. Panza has a good sense of humor and always wants to have a good time, unlike Quixote who is very serious most of the time. Quixote deceives himself and tries to convince others around him by living in an imaginary time period, while Panza will tell a lie only to benefit his self. Quixote is brave. He is willing to challenge anyone or anything he encounters, but Panza will turn and run in the other direction. While traveling the countryside the gentlemen come across a field of windmills.
