Have you ever thought of giving up when times get rough? In the story “Night” by Elie Wiesel, Elie and his family were brought into a concentration camp. Later they got split up, but that did not them from giving up hope. through many rough events and scenarios, Elie had to work hard to stay alive and try to get out. In “Night”, the theme of the memoir is don’t give up hope, because there is always something positive in the end. Moishe the Beadle did not give up hope at first when he was captured and sent to to camp. Then while moishe was in the camp he was beaten and later shot and left to die. Moishe being the smart person he was, did not give up and just acted dead. He later escaped the concentration camp and went back to Sighet. Hoping to get there before the Nazi’s came and captured them. While he was there he tried to warn the people about the camps. The people of Sighet did not believe him though. “They think i'm mad.” he whispered,and tears like drops of wax,flowed from his eyes.(Night pg.7) Moishe just kept telling Elie about his time there and how brutal it was, still hoping that at least he would believe him. On multiple occasions the Jewish people were brutally beaten. Even when they were on the edge of death they did not give up on living. Along with watching people being beaten, they also watched thousands of people die. They watched people being hanged and killed over trying to get more food. Even though most people figured they were going to die in the camps they did not give up on staying alive. The people did not take anything for granted. they used everything to their best ability. that shows that they didn’t give up on living. Although a lot of people died, there were a lot that were saved. One in particular was Elie
