Who: Suspects- Donald Smith and twin brother, Ronald Smith. Victim- Genai Coleman (preschool teacher who was shot).
What: Murder of a preschool teacher and a carjacking. Donald Smith was convicted in 2008 of murdering a preschool teacher and carjacking. Witnesses described a man matching his description, security camera footage matched his description, and even DNA evidence was found apparently matching Donald to the crime. However, Donald claimed it was his twin brother the entire time. Fingerprints found at the crime scene actually matched Ronald, not Donald.
When: July 18, 2008
Where: Gwinnett, Georgia (near Atlanta).
Why: Ronald carjacked Genai Coleman and shot her in the process.

Tissue samples from under her fingernails were sent in for DNA testing (which wasn’t available at the time), and a bunch of lego pieces were found around the house. Her daughter found her dead in her bed with a pillow over her face. Sansing was already in jail for a similar reason, so he wasn’t able to be convicted again.

Why: He stole some jewelry that she often wore.
How: Fingerprints from the legos were tested, and they came back to Sansing’s 5 year old son.

Who: Suspects: The Stratton Brothers. Victims: Thomas and Ann Farrow
What: The neighbors of Thomas and Ann Farrow found their bodies, badly damaged, in their home. Thomas was already dead but Ann was still breathing.
When: 1905
Where: South London, UK.
Why: The Stratton Brothers stole the cash box that was in the Farrow’s shop.
How: The investigators fingerprinted the brothers, and Alfred’s thumb print matched exactly to the print on the cash box.

Who: Suspect: Samuel Reeves. Victim: James “Richard” Lane.
What: Reeves killed Lane in the La Plaza Motel. He was found with 32 stab wounds in his arms, head, neck, chest, back and abdomen. Motel staff found Lane bloody and naked, in the bathtub of the hotel room, with his ring finger amputated, his wedding ring and wallet
