This is why Dory cannot remember simple things likes Nemo’s name and why her memorization of the address of where the boat went is so important of the story. Dory’s constant memory loss is a hindrance to Marlins quest to find his son. Though the movie handles this in a tongue in cheek comedic way this can be a very real issue in real life.
