Timothy Snyder a Yale professor and author of “Why Laptops in Classrooms are Distracting America 's Future Workforce”, states his opinion on why laptops shouldn’t be allowed in the classroom. He feels that laptops aren’t being used for educational use, students are losing their focus and are being detached from humanity. Snyder has observed that when a professor walks into his or her lectures a class, instead of seeing an audience of students there’s nothing but backs of laptops. He also gives thanks to wireless internet for giving the student easy access to various internet outlets. Instead of being in tune with their studies, the class is surfing the internet for the latest gossip.

I think that Chromebooks should be allowed in Elementary schools because kids doesn 't have to waste paper and pencils. Also the parents and teachers do not have to buy ten to twenty textbooks for each class, and some textbooks are heavy for some students. My second reason is it is very easy to use, Wherever you go, there is going to be Wi-fi to connect to you 're Chromebook.
Going through six to seven hours of school on a five-hour sleep schedule isn 't exactly the most exciting thing in my life right now. And guess what? I have to work on this project (a.k.a. I-Search) for the next FIVE weeks and to be honest it is really a pain in the neck. As I was sitting there in class listening to the teacher talks about this project and at the same time complaining about the workload (mostly because we need to conduct an interview), I unconsciously, with the pencil in my hand, started to doodle.
Writing received a lot of criticism, especially from Socrates, a Greek philosopher. According to Socrates writing was mnemonic and not interactive. Socrates claims “the ultimate effect of writing will be to weaken memory, not strengthen it” (842). According to Baron “we remember this because Plato wrote it down” (842). Socrates views are very disputable since he claims that writing will weaken the memory, yet we know about him because his student Plato wrote it down.
Learning is fun, but it is also hard work. It’s so extraordinarily well documented as to be almost a truism at this point, but multitasking and particularly technology (e.g., cell phones, email) can make the deep concentration needed for real learning difficult or impossible. Set aside dedicated time for learning and minimize interruptions. When you read, find a quiet place, and leave your phone behind. If you’re taking a class or participating in a reading group, take handwritten notes, which improve retention and understanding, and leave laptops, mobiles devices, and other disrupting technologies in your car or bag far out of reach.
The internet influences the human mind and Nicholas Carr delves into the reasons in Is Google Making Us Stupid? In this article Carr examines the internet’s influential possibilities. The internet is changing people psychologically but it is not negatively impacting, it is merely an evolution for society. Carr provides well-thought input, spanning from humanity’s psychological alterations to comparisons of historical inventions. SUMMARY
In The Shallows, Nicholas Carr discusses the internet’s effect on human thought. This is perfectly shown in Chapter Nine which is titled “Search, Memory.” Carr speaks on how the internet effects long term memory. The chapter quotes one of the smartest minds in the history of Western Civilization, Socrates. Socrates is quoted, “Writing down their thoughts and reading the thoughts of others had written down, they become less dependent on the contents of their own memory.”

As a graduate student, most of my work includes reading and writing. My ability to retain information from texts greatly depend on my note-taking methods. While none of the above appears related to a Kate Spade notebook, I have realised over the years that I was more inclined to take good and selective notes when writing on a surface that I find pleasing. If it is true that in this day and age most students prefer to work from their laptop, I enjoy the convenience of working with both laptops and “classical” notebooks.
Texting Does Not Effect Formal Writing As a teenager in the texting era, I completely understand how some people could think texting affects writing in a bad way; however, from personal experience I can say that It clearly has no effect on my writing, and does not have any effect on factory workers writing either. In this statement, I can conclude that throughout high school writing essays and texting, I always performed well in class. The texting had no effect on my writing because it is two different things. Others as well were great writers, but put them on a phone to text you could never tell. If anything, it has helped the people who have not furthered their education to write and practice each day.
Cursive writing is still essential, it has very important value. We can't let technology take over education. In my opinion we are becomig slaves of the new technology, that can't be good in any way , technology is making us become lazy. If computers do everything for us than we will be totally useless without them, we are losing work ethic.
Handwriting and typing are going to be used throughout your life in school, at home, and many other places as well, but which is better for the comprehension and understanding of the notes he or she takes? Well, Typing is more efficient to take notes since it is faster to do and takes a smaller amount of time to write more information. However, studies have proven that most of the time handwriting gives you a better understanding of the material in which you are writing about. Typing is better for note taking because it is a more efficient way to type, students take less time to write, and they may have a better understanding typing. Based on research conducted by many scientists, both handwriting and typing have their advantages and drawbacks but what exactly are they for taking notes?
