“Who Has Grit??” The Definition of grit is to have Courage, determination and passion a goal. In the novel True Grit the character that have this trait are Mattie Ross because she is avenging her father’s death. Also Rooster Cogburn has grit because his a man with no fear and keeps his word with helping Mattie Ross.
Grit is a term that gets thrown around alot; but rarely do people take time to think about what grit is and how it can help in everyday life. In Charlie Portis's True Grit, Rooster is portrayed as the grittiest character in the book for several reasons. First, he is known for being fearless; next, his relentlessness; and finally, his strength of character. Rooster Cogburn's fearlessness in the face of danger is a crucial element of his character in the novel "True Grit" by Charles Portis. The Oxford Dictionary defines fearlessness as the "lack of fear" that is just skimming the surface of what it means and takes to be fearless.
He also discusses that grit can be acquired and developed when someone believes in it and excepts it. When giving an example of grit he explained it as how art saves lives
The Greatness in Grit There are many important human traits but I am only going to be talking about one that one trait is grit. Grit is a strong trait that some people have and other people don’t it is not something that can be taught it is something that must always be there and most people have some amount of grit big or small it always makes a difference in their character and their integrity. To be success is not to have the high IQ, good background and not to have good talents. It was a grit that can make us success. Many people think that to be successful is to have high IQ.
Grit is a trait in which not many people can claim to have. Some may even have no idea to what it truly is. Many times, however, we can recognize grit in high-achieving people, whether of the past or present. There are many people in the past who have shown extraordinary amounts of grit, or other character traits along with grit, and one of those people is a hero from the Trojan War. One main person who helped me with my research was Angela Lee Duckworth. Ms. Duckworth is a professor at University of Pennsylvania in the Psychology department. She was a Math teacher, who wanted to look at the psychologic aspect of a successful student. I was in awe of her Ted Talk "The Key to Success Grit", interview article, and her research. Grit is the determination you have to complete a goal that you have had for a long time. Grit is knowing what you want your future to be so you work hard to get there. Learning about grit and what a growth mindset is allowed me to realized that grit and a growth mindset work together to support success. Grit is the motivation one possess that will determine whether they win or lose. The grittier a person is the more they learn, get experience and discover their potentials.
