Growth mindset and Grit are two traits used to help a person with success. Some
one with a Growth Mindset can learn from their mistakes and help them change the
problem in the future. Grit is the amount of effort put into passing or overcoming a
problem till you master it. I believe to have a Growth Mindset you need to have Grit.
Having both traits will help you push forward and not give up till you are satisfied and
most of the time to prove people wrong.
Grit is “ sticking with things over the very long tern until you master them,” based
on Angela Duckworth. According to the article, “ Angela Duckworth and the Research
on Grit” by Emily Hanford, Hanford describes gritty as how much effort someone puts
into overcoming an obstacle. She writes, “ In

other words, Hanford describes gritty as putting much more time into something to pass
others and to win. From some of my personal experiences, at times I was gritty was the
week before the chemistry regents. I was told I had to take the regent a week before the
day of the test. Being surprised last minute, with barely any knowledge of the subject I
went to my chemistry teacher after school and told him about my situation. With little
time to study and get ready for the exam I wasted none of it. Everyday after school I
stood with my chemistry teacher and studied and learning something new each time I got
a question wrong. I studied during any free time and also studied with friends to learn
new ways to memorize key parts. With only one week of studying and working as much
as I could I went into that testing room feeling confident. After getting that pasting grade
I realized how much that week of studying paid off.
