The document is the transcript of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr speech talking about hopes towards the freedom and rights of African Americans in 1960. Dr. King use different ways to ensure that the public fully understand his intentions. The speech truly made history as it was a moving and powerful.
The speech targeted mostly African American who were having a hard time in their life, it also target all citizens of the United States. The speech is to move forward and embark in many riots and fight for their own freedom. Dr. King decided to made the speech in other to create a light, a hope during depression. King. At the beginning he mentioned about the greatness of Abraham Lincoln, to show his significant from the movement by freeing slaves. By using Lincoln as example, he stated how 100 years after, the African Americans were still not freed. They still have to face discrimination and segregation in every part of the United States. He started off with negativity, the suffering, and the unfair treatment from the white people. He stated how the society doesn't reflect what the amendments stated in equal rights. From those struggle, he spoke out about a spark, a high hope that one day black men can gain what they supposed to when Lincoln passed the amendments. “Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning", MLK truly want to make people rise up, instead of living in darkness and fear, African Americans should all rise for the benefits of the right and their freedom. He asked the people to go back to where they belong, even to the harsh Southern States to fight for their own freedom, no matter how hard it take. In the middle of the speech, he started to say an iconic line: “ I have a dream “ multiply time. The repeat of that really embrace the dedication and how much he dreamt of what he didn't get and hope that in the future, the freedom will be arised.
