My childhood hero, Dr. Seuss, published in one of his most iconic children’s books that “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” With this in mind, I have grown up actively trying to make a difference in the world, whether it is smiling at others in the hallway at school or attending leadership conventions, trying to learn new ways to help others. Dedicated to my future, I hope that acts of kindness dominate my generation, so frequently that they are no longer considered random. I hope that my generation, and those to follow learn to respect each other, and the environment around us. Not only do these acts of kindness benefit both the giver and receiver, but more often than not, they start a chain reaction. This kindness chain can change lives, save lives, even in special circumstances. I believe that by intentionally helping others, one is making a definite impact on the world. I hope that my generation will grow together through kindness. When I was in preschool, I remember the first lessons we were taught were to keep our hands to ourselves, use kind words, and always help clean up. These concepts were so important that we were taught songs to help us remember them. Looking around at my classmates today, I realize that all too often we don’t make the effort to remember these principles. It is no longer important to help others, speak kindly and not resort to physical contact. I hope that for the future, generations not only relearn to true meaning of respect, but show it as
