Chapter Summary & Reflection Paper- FINAL Social and emotional issues are common ground among all humans, but they are especially relevant in the lives of college students. Chapter seven of the book “DMACC: Planning Your Success” is titled “Social and Emotional Intelligence: Relating to Others and Regulating Emotions”. It discusses how a student can gain the social and emotional skills to better the assessment of their personal health along with their relationships with others.
Solomon was an American professor of philosophy and business at the University of Texas, where he taught for more than 30 years. His work was intended for a broader audience. The findings suggested emotions are rational and purposive rather than irrational and disruptive, emotion are very much like actions, and that we choose an emotion just as we choose a course of action, his notion is that feelings are inessential to emotion since feelings fail to capture the component of emotion. In contrast, Solomon criticized James with the idea of emotion being a sensation and that bodily response will produce a specific emotion, he suggested that emotions are purposive and that emotions are judgments, which can be a part of our control but not completely.

Another potential issue that Australia faces with human trafficking cases lies in the unclear separation between trafficking and smuggling definitions. ‘Unlike smuggling, which is often a criminal commercial transaction between two willing parties, trafficking specifically targets a victim as an object of criminal exploitation.’ Whilst the UNODC clearly summarised the distinction between these offences, in practise these definitions are often blurred. As Anne Gallagher from the UNHCR explains, the evident uncertainty is due to the fact that ‘many people start their journey as smuggled persons and end up in exploitative situations however such people are not acknowledged as victims of trafficking’. The absence of a clear difference between the

As many struggles you are going to face it is going to pay off in the end. College teaches you more than just things about your major, it teaches you quality life skills. There are so many people in this world that don’t even get a job that their major is associated with and I think just going through college in general teaches you life skills you can use in the future. Not only did I get to meet my teacher in person, I was also able to learn more about her. I learned from her that there are many teachers out here that actually care about their students and want them to succeed in life.
I really enjoyed my classes, and my course work was more fun than drudgery. However, anything worthwhile usually does requires a lot of hard work. Since I had changed my major, I realized my GPA needed a major boost if I were to attend law school. I recognized the need to excel in all my classes, and doing so was not an easy task. It took a lot of extra work and focus on my part, however, I did succeed and my grades improved tremendously after my sophomore year in college.
Emotion is a psychological or bodily change, interpreted by an individual who then decides on an appropriate behavioural response. There are six main emotions that can be identified- anger, disgust, happiness, sadness, surprise and fear. These are the emotions that are felt as well as recognised universally and have now become a part of most cultures. In this essay, I will demonstrate how biological and cognitive factors are involved in forming and appraising emotions, by using theories and studies to support my answer. I will first consider the biological factors, and then the cognitive factors in order to draw an informed conclusion The physiological explanation of emotion may be the arousal of the autonomic nervous system and the endocrine
In the movie Inside Out everything essentially takes place inside the mind of an eleven year old girl, Riley. Riley is guided by her emotions of joy, sadness, anger, fear, and disgust. These five core human emotions attempt to advise and navigate her through her everyday life. The emotions and Riley display many nonverbal cues throughout the movie which portray how they are feeling. Watching this movie helped me learn how effective the communication between the characters is, what advice I would give to Riley if I were put in a similar situation, and how this advice is rooted in nonverbal communication.
The major you choose and the people that are also there can change your life forever, you can meet your future spouse, best friends just in one day, because of one decision. Everything you decide is your journey and no one else 's. Your personal journey in life contributes to others, by learning about other cultures and experiences from other people. But unlike some people take their whole lives to find their purpose in life. Our characteristics, deductions, experiences, and areas of living all contribute to who you become in society.
Therefore, I learned a lot from my experience and I feel confident that I will be able to apply my skills to my personal life, academic journey and professional

I learned that any barrier you face there is always an option to overcome it and be successful. I can grow by working my hardest on my school work and never giving up, even when things get hard. I also learned that time management is a very great skill to obtain at this time in my life, because college courses take time, effort, and lots of patience. I must give myself time to prepare for class work and especially exams. Having a schedule for my school work and my personal life is the best choice to help me stay on track.

In the students senior year it is a simple seemingly inconsequential click of a button on an online application. But by the time this once meek ripple reaches the shore of the students’ life it has already transformed into a great tidal wave that has influenced their life every step of the way.
