Economic, political and religious factors contributed to international trade, which promoted European explorations in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Trade grew due to the demand for certain international goods, such as spices and metal. With the development of new ships and navigation, traveling and overseas trading was easier and more accessible. The creation of the compass and sailing schools encouraged and aided overseas exploration. Different trade routes were also discovered, which made land traveling and trading more convenient.
Dreaming is specific to one person which is why someone people chase after the “American dream" and some do not. Author F. Scott Fitzgerald uses the ideals behind the American dream to demonstrate the
To dream is to desire an achievement which seems unobtainable. Most everyone has trouble convincing themselves that their dreams are within reach. Jim Carrey once said, “So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality.” This is a result of allowing dreams to remain dreams and, instead, opting to take a more reliable path. In doing so, a sense of emptiness that never completely dies out is often developed.
A historical example of a person with dreams is Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was born in 1755 or 1757 (the date is not precisely known) on the island of Nevis. From the beginning he experienced poverty, hardship and death, but he always dreamed of glory and a better life. He started working at age 11 and his intelligence and maturity was soon noticed by his boss. Funds were raised to send him to America to get an education and at the age of 16 he left his home for New York.
Everyone should have dreams, even if the dreams are not achievable because dreams create happiness, motivation, and help people achieve more. In particular, dreams create a sense of happiness; a place to escape the real world. Lennie had asked George to tell him about their dream, so George started telling Lennie about it. After he had finished, he started thinking.
For example, if someone had the desire to write a book, they would write copious amounts of drafts and edit all their work. Also, it might take several times to figure out everything. Dreams are not a one-step process. They take time, but there will be time. In a minute there is time for a hundred visions and revisions.
Dreams help individualize one’s self. They show the truest form of who that individual is. It reveals an insight of why that is the best person to possibly be. There needs to be more time spent figuring out what’s being dreamt of, and less time stressing about current happenings. The brain can theoretically improve, becoming able to obtain more knowledge simply by understanding dreams.
A dream can be defined as a strong desired goal or purpose that a person has. Many people have a dream that they want to accomplish in life, but never get the chance to do it. People are either too busy with work, a family, or they do not have the money to start their dream. Today people see others accomplish their dreams all the time on TV shows like The Voice, Master Chef, and American Idol. The novel Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck shows that during the Great Depression dreams were desired, but very hard to attain.
You have to be able to understand reality clearly and be able to separate what is doable within your dreamland to become reality. For example, you cannot accomplish your desire the day after the night you dreamed it. You can do that in your dreams but not in reality. But, in reality, what you can do is train and prepare yourself to accomplish your desire in due time. In your dreamy mentality, everyday you live life like that is the day you succeed within your desire and your dreams come true.
What does it mean to dream? Well, I believe dreams will always remain a mystery of phenomenons that science will never be able to explain. However, we can interpret our dreams in many different aspects. Philosophers, such as Alan Watts, interpret dreams in an interesting way, such as it being an adventure (The Dream of Life). From this, I’d like to think of dreams as adventures for our minds; we’re subconsciously wandering to a new adventure every time we decide to rest our eyes.
The Declaration of Independence, The Emancipation Proclamation, and The Constitution all declared everyone of all color to be free ;however, people are still segregated and denied their rights based on the color of their skin. In the speech “I have a Dream” by Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. he persuades his audience to treat everyone (of all color) as equals and to give everyone the rights that they deserve. This speech was the most compelling because there were many rhetorical devices being used which helped emphasize the idea of all men being equal and free. It also emphasized how much he fought to be equal with no hatred in his heart.
Dreaming is a huge part of people’s lives. Dreams happen to everybody and are different to everybody. They tell a lot about a person’s life. Dreams are viewed differently by so many people. People have opinions on what makes dreams happen, what dreams are, and what they mean.
Everyone has a dream. Although these dreams aren’t the ones you have while sleeping, they are the ones that drive you, challenge you and keep you fighting for the reality that they will become true. They are the dreams that you will work hard for. Martin Luther King Jr. even died while fighting for his dream to become a reality. They are the ones you hope will one day become a reality.
There have been many times in my life where I have either woken up in the middle of the night from a horrible nightmare or woke up in the morning trying to recall my dreams. I have spent a lot of time researching what my dreams mean. Although we have experienced countless dreams in our lifetime, do we ever stop to think: how dreams occur? How dreams affect our lives? Do dreams even mean anything?
Can you remember the last dream you had? Maybe you could fly or were falling down an endless dark tunnel. Perhaps you were awakened by a horrific dream in the middle of the night. They are usually accompanied by muscle spasms and twitches of the entire body. Although these dreams occur while we are falling asleep, they interpret a completely different meaning.
