Are African-Americans still slaves for the white people? Well, I believe they used to be slaves for the white people and were treated differently. Thankfully, there was a man who stood up and made the first step in solving the conflict in discrimination. His name was Dred Scott. Dred Scott was an American hero who was known as a savior to the African-American people. He gave the United States of America to also look at the significance of his kind of people. Even though the decision in Dred Scott’s case created conflicts leading to the Civil War and innocent deaths, Dred Scott impacted the USA in a good way because he never gave up his fight for freedom and impacted the civil rights movement. Unfortunately, the decision was Dred Scott failing to win the case. He had failed to provide a witness to testify that Dred Scott was a slave along with a women named Harriet. They gave birth to Eliza and Lizzie. The judges granted Dred Scott a new trial. In the new trial, he had provided evidence of him being owned by someone. However, the judges still decided a No for the case “Dred Scott v. Emerson.” Technically, he was still legally a slave and should have been free while living in a free state. (Hughes)
Later on, Dred Scott was sent to a new owner named Sanford. Dred Scott had to find another chance in the court and sued his owner. This time Dred Scott was able to take this case to the federal court. Dred Scott gave significant proof in the constitution. Obviously racial discrimination was a big problem as time passed.(Background on Racial Discrimination) However without Dred Scott, this problem wouldn’t have been solved. This can be explained due to the fact that Dred Scott really showed how much white people discriminated dark-skinned people. He was the first one to show, tell, and prove that every black person in the United States of America should have their rights and should be deserved to be the person they are. He truly showed how crazy it was to discriminate people just because of skin color and won the case to prove that African-Americans should deserve their freedom.

In conclusion, Dred Scott had an enormous impact to the United States of America. The current USA wouldn’t be the country it is today if discrimination was not noticed. Dred Scott surely showed that white people were treating the black people differently. This made the people start to argue about their skin color rights and caused everyone to be equal
