Organizations and their rights, do organizations have a right to tell their employees how to dress or groom. From the reading alone, the answer would depend on whether a company’s dress code violates state and federal laws prohibiting discrimination. In today’s workforce more employers are requiring employees to wear a uniform so that all employees appear uniform. Some employers, such as manufacturing and distribution companies require their employees to wear uniforms bearing the company logo, which is perfectly legal as long as they do not discriminate. According to (Bryars and Rue, 2011), most companies have a code of conduct handbook issued to employees upon hire. Companies indicate the importance in marketing services that comply with the dress code. The appearance has an impact upon the organization itself. In some organizations, there has to be different codes for women than men depending on the type of business it is. Some organizations may require the dress attire to be more professional such as wearing slacks and button down and others may only require jeans and t-shirts with the company logo. For safety reasons, woman wear hair nets, no dangling earrings, no jewelry whereas men wear low haircut.
