In the book Fifth Sun by Camilla Townsend we explore the history of the Aztecs, but from the perspective of the Aztecs themselves, opposed to the norm of the story being told from the European perspective. This opened up a lot more of the Aztecs history that got lost in the later tellings of the same story. We see similarities but mostly differences when looking at it from the Aztecs point of view. This unique perspective we get as Townsend is leading us through this story helps us better understand the Aztecs but also in my opinion better understand how the European conquistador fully took advantage of the Aztecs' kindness and their cluelessness about who they were and why they were there. As we review the book I am more focused on the ways/events
In Part Three of The Warmth of Other Suns, Isabel Wilkerson uses the poem Exodus from The Cleveland Advocate and an excerpt from Richard Wright's 12 Million Black Voices to set the tone and context for the harrowing experiences of African Americans during the Great Migration. These words are appropriate because they depict the desperation and determination of African Americans seeking to escape the oppressive conditions of the South. For example, the excerpt from 12 Million Black Voices states, "They packed their belongings in orange crates, said their goodbyes, and went off to cities...," highlighting the resolve of those who embarked on this journey. The manner in which Ida Mae Gladney and George Starling leave the South underscores the
The last time most Americans experienced a total solar eclipse was 1991. The solar eclipse is when the moon moves right in front of the sun, covering it completely for not even 5 minutes. It darkens the sky and lets you look at the sky, that's only if you have the right glasses for it. One Myth about the solar eclipse is that a bear bit the sun. The Pomo, an indigenous group of people who live in the northwestern United States, tell a story of a bear who started a fight with the Sun and took a bite out of it.
Theogony was a myth that addressed the connection between human beings to the Gods and the universe. Giving that Hesiod lived during the Iron age ( 750-650 B.C.) alongside Homer, it is not extraordinary that the two shared similar religious views. Keeping that in mind, he was able to offer his interpretation of how the world came into existence in his epic poem the Theogony. While creating Prometheus’ myth, he focused on the ominous interactions between Zeus and Prometheus that lead to abhorrent events such as the creation of Pandora. On the contrary, Aeschylus lived in the sixth Century B.C. amid a time of great stir and movement in matters of religion and speculation.
In “Cattle of the Sun God” a theme that surfaces would be: the choices people make have severe consequences. In this book, written by Homer, we have Odysseus’ and his crew on Helios island. Odysseus falls asleep and his crew makes a bad decision which affects them all. In this story by Homer,” Helios burst into angry speech amid the immortals: O father Zeus… Punish Odysseus’ men” (XII. 906-909).
He goes through many challenges within the war and out of the war, but most of his challenges come when he is attempting to come home to his island. His first big challenge on his journey home that he faces is the giant Prometheus. After getting trapped in the giant's cave a few of his men are eaten, but these losses are small compared to what would've happened if he had not come up with a way to get his men out of the morbid cave. He does this with another superb plan. He give the giant wine convincing him it is the drink of the gods.

The Odyssey is an epic poem written by the blind, illiterate poet Homer. It takes place in ancient Greece and tells of a man’s journey home from war. The topic, intervention of the gods, is seen throughout the book numerous times as the gods who are in favor of Odysseus lend a helping hand. It is well-known that the gods are very important to the Greeks. In this epic poem, The Odyssey, Homer demonstrates the importance of the positive and encouraging intervention of the gods in Greek culture; the brave actions, encouraging words, and cunning strategies of Athena as she assists and guides Odysseus on his journey back home.
Throughout all of human history, various pieces of literature usually reflect the nature of people and the current culture of the time it was written. A topic that was frequently written about in Greek Mythology were family dynamics and relationships between family members. More specifically, father-son relationships were an extremely prevalent topic in Greek Mythology. In particular, The Odyssey touched upon this topic greatly. The basic structure of father-son relationships have stayed the same like how the parent are supposed to take care of the children.

These concepts can even be applied to ancient societies in Greek mythology. Many gods were blinded by the desire of having authority over others or being feared by their competitors and fellow civilians. The god’s persistent angst over this idea of sovereignty consumed them and morphed them into beings filled with vain. The gods are figures of tyranny because of their obsession of power leading to the perpetration of sociopathic acts such as Cronus killing his father, Uranus, Athena challenging Arachne causing Arachne’s death, and Aphrodite scheming against Psyche. One god that made it his cardinal ambition to achieve and maintain high power was the son of Uranus and Gaea, Cronus.
Greek mythology has been one of the most complicated subjects in the field of religion and mythology. This is due to the complex relations and interactions which exists in the history of Greek gods and the humans who lived in ancient Greece. Different versions of the existence and the establishment of the superior beings were developed, which at times created suspense for readers through their interactions. The various tales which exist explain the various connections between different gods, how they relate to one another, the ideological order in which they came into existence as well as the interactions they had with humans. These tales form the basis of various religious beliefs and practices since it is perceived that it is through the interactions of the gods that humans came into existence, a situation which created the dependent relationship between mortals and gods.
“Some studies suggest that the Arctic Ocean may be ice-free by the end of the century”, was once quoted by American environmentalist Jeff Goodell. The Polar Regions have slowly faded away due to the lack of precautions humans have taken to protect them. The Polar Regions are very fragile and have Polar Regions The polar regions of the world consist of the northern and southernmost areas of the Earth.
