Substance abuse is proven to cause a weakened immune system, a greater risk of heart attacks, nausea, liver failure, seizures, strokes, permanent brain damage, and/or cause mental confusion. About 200,000 people die from drug abuse each year. Unfortunately, substance abuse is becoming popular in many more countries such as: Italy, the US, Mexico, Brazil, and Russia. Italy is becoming known for its drug trafficking of marijuana. 69 percent of teenagers in Italy are known to use alcohol. Mexico is a prominent producer of marijuana and heroin, and is known for trafficking drugs to the US. Marijuana, crack, and cocaine are three of the main drugs that are overused and abused in Venezuela. Three different types of cocaine are being illegally overused: powder cocaine, crack cocaine and basuco, a toxic form of unpurified cocaine. There has been a rise in the amount of youth that have been abusing drugs in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. People have become more interested in drug trafficking in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela because Venezuela barely has any money, has terrible law enforcement, and there are many drug traffickers near Venezuela. Sadly, less than 2,000 people out of the 27 million Venezuelans have received drug addiction treatment. There has been many recent happenings having to do with drug abuse and trafficking in Venezuela. A drug lord has been recently captured in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Daniel Barerra was captured in San Cristobal, Venezuela when Columbian authorities informed the Venezuelan government where Barerra was located. There was a massive drug glut in an overcrowded Venezuelan prison that resulted in the deaths of 48 prisoners. Also two ex-military chiefs were arrested because they were thought to be drug
