To begin, there are many worldwide criminals in the United States. Many of these criminals stretch along the U.S. and the Mexican border. Within these criminals, many druglords are included within these borders. For example, one major drug lord is Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. His career in narcotics affected the world in ways no other criminal could. Joaquin Guzman was born in Badiraguato, Mexico, on April 4, 1957. Growing up, Guzman did not have very much money in his family. They were in poverty for most of Guzman’s childhood. They were trying to replace the drug lords since they were kept busy with the cartel war. Rivalry cartels started to gang up on each other and started even more wars between the two cartels. The quality and prices were always moving throughout these wars. El Chapo saw an opportunity to take more territory. El Chapo went after Nuevo Laredo’s territory. With Guzman doing this, local police had a full-on war, and local police lost control of the town (“Mexican”). El Chapo was arrested a second time after the cartel war. Guzma was in “Altiplano” maximum security prison in Juarez, Mexico. According to a news article, “There was a gap of roughly 50 minutes between the time he was last seen, Saturday night” (ABC). He was not visible to the security guards through the cell’s internal camera. He was last seen disappearing into the cell’s shower. An alert was sent out at approximately 8:52 p.m. When guards entered Guzman’s cell, they were surprised to find an opening in the shower area of the prison cell.
