The book was very informative of life when racism was more apparent. I think that books like this show that standing up to racism is an option. It shows that even children of a younger age were involved in the situation.
The author of Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie uses chapter titles to lighten the mood, foreshadows the chapter, and shows how important Jeffrey is to Steven. One use of the chapter titles is that they help add a humorous tone to the novel. For example, one of the chapter names is “A Man’s Journey” (Sonnenblick). The chapter title sounds silly and goofy. You most likely wouldn’t guess that the chapter says, “There were sick kids everywhere一walking with IV poles, playing games, lying in beds, watching TV, sleeping.”
It’s a really good book to read, because it will change the view that we have as citizens, living us with many questions without answer for the
There were a lot of themes that I picked up. Kit was a very brave and courageous character and everyone had a lot of loyalty. In conclusion, I would recommend this book. I thought it was pretty
The book really made me think of all the stuff that I take for granted, and how I should be more appreciative and how there are people with less than me who are just as happy if not happier. If you’re not a fan of books that are sad but shocking and at times harsh because you think they’re boring or they don’t fulfill you’re interests, then I would still recommend you try reading the book because it’s very intriguing but I can’t guarantee you’ll love it, and if you do enjoy books like that then I say it’s a must read! Such a great true
I really enjoyed reading this book and I think you would to. It is a book about persistence and loyalty. If you think you may like this book be sure to check out one of Peg Kehret’s other
It even adds on to some of his friendship issues. He knows that his brother needs him, but he also knows, sometimes, it’s not going to be easy. This essay is about how Steven teaches us (through his experiences), that you should
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wanted to learn more about our history and founding
Although I did get confused while reading the book a few times, I think most individuals would enjoy it. I read this book all in one day, as it was a type of book that is super hard to stop reading after you start it. I wouldn’t recommend starting this book, if the reader doesn’t have time to read a majority of the book in one sitting. I believe a busy person would get too confused and lost in the book, since they wouldn’t have time to sit down and read the whole book. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone under the age of fourteen, as it can be very sad at times.
The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story.
When thought upon, women from the 1700s were considered dainty and delicate. Jemima Emerson proves just the opposite of these claims on women. Time Enough For Drums is about a spunky young patriotic women’s trials throughout the American Revolution who ends up falling for her tutor in a town called Trenton. Jemima Emerson strikes the interest of readers with her insubordination at the beginning of the novel and patriotic spirit throughout it. Although her disrespect is dislikeable her courage and strength are admirable.
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and
This book was interesting for me because it allowed me to relate to a character. I love reading novels that not only allow me to feel a connection with a character, but allow me to relate to their personality or
I think this book is a really great to make them understand the childbirth. Young children are always curious to learn the facts of life. They are always asking questions about the families, world,
The theme is “ The Golden Rule” because of the characters Raymond, Mary Loiuse, and Squeaky herself. This story teaches us that even a little crack in the wall will do—that a simple smile, or a change in thinking could have big results. We can all learn from Squeaky, even if we are not pushing everyone away all of the time. We can all learn to take a risk in our lives and to open up to others a little bit more. Only then will we see the true smiles all around
