Ever since the Earth was created free will has dictated mankind’s decisions. And when freewill started dictating mankind’s decisions the existence of duality started to form. The hardcore dictionary definition of duality is an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of something; a dualism. Most people believe duality is only strictly good vs evil, but even this dictionary definition proves that duality can encompass any opposing forces. I personally believe duality of man very existence is due to the realism of free will but nonetheless duality of man is much more than an internal struggle between good and evil. Duality of man isn’t always expressed through having a constant internal struggle between good and evil, but I think duality of man is just another representation of free will. Because we know that we hold the gift of free will, naturally we as humans tend to lust after doing unthinkable thing, irrational things, unnatural things. Because of the free will we posses, we have the tendency to lust after a life opposite of the one we currently live. Because of free will even the most truest and honest people have the tendency to lust the sweetness of a lie, and tend to fantasize leaving their lives of honesty to lead ones of lies and fibs. Duality of man is merely a manifestation of free will. Duality of man just represents our need to exert our privilege of free will. You see that when Hyde starts to gain more power and authority in Jekyll’s life. In conclusion I think duality of man is more than good vs evil, but it is really simple as well. Duality of man encompasses any opposing identities in one man. Whether it be good or evil; healthy or unhealthy; hardworking or lazy. It doesn’t matter as long as there is a manifestation of two opposing identities or states of mind; then that qualifies as dual nature. People think dualism only exist between good and evil, and dualism is everywhere. Dualism is in nature, its in science, Isaac Newton even tried to validify the existence of dualism with his third law of motion.
