Imagine loving someone from the only family that your family hates. Some people do anything to be with their lovers. Some people are willing to change just to be with them, this is the case in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is a play by William Shakespeare in the late 1500s. The play displays an act of love in a family feud. Romeo and Juliet secretly got married without their families knowing. Soon after Juliet finds out that her family set up an arranged marriage. Juliet, of course, does not want to marry this other person because she was married to Romeo, so she decides, with the help of Friar Lawrence, to fake her death. Romeo does not hear about this plan until he sees Juliet “dead” and decides to kill himself because she is dead. When Juliet wakes up from faking her death she finds Romeo dead and decides to kill herself to the end. During all of this Juliet undergoes a dynamic change in her character, she goes from obedient to defiant. …show more content…

When Lady Capulet and the nurse come into Juliet’s room, they ask her about how she feels about marrying Paris. She responds, “I’ll look to like if looking liking move/ But no more deep will I endart mine eye/ Than your consent gives strength to make it fly.” (Act l, Scene lll, Lines 99-101). Juliet implies that she is willing to consider him as a husband but will go beyond her parent's wishes. Juliet displays obedience to her parents by considering someone that her parents picked out for her. She also implies that she is willing to marry Paris if her parents want that for her. This displays a great amount of obedience and loyalty to her
