Yes, my perception of dyslexia has changed. I thought why we are learning about dyslexia, it is a reading disability. Then asked myself, what does dyslexia have to do with speech and language? After reading the article by Shawywitz, dyslexia affect more than the individual’s ability to read. Dyslexia affects an individual’s ability to put meaning to words. An individual may see the word volcano and say tornado but is capable of explaining what a volcano is and how it work. Individuals with dyslexia ability to learn language is difficult. Dyslexia is not a sign of low intelligence. Many students with dyslexia are extremely creative.
