The use of e-cigarettes has been scrutinized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a new found addiction. The CDC believes that e-cigarettes are just as dangerous as normal cigarettes and are a detriment to the public health. Throughout the paper, Nocera is illustrating to the reader that he is very one sided with his opinion. As I read this article, and continued my research on this topic, I have come to a decision. I disagree with the argument the electronic cigarettes will lead to the addictive use of traditional cigarettes. As more and more people purchase and use these electronic cigarettes, they become addicted to the artificial flavors of the e-juice and the nicotine, not the idea of traditional cigarettes. The multiple different flavors draw their attention, the nicotine is just the one thing they don’t pay as much attention to. They continue making new flavors that grab the attention of teens and young adults which is the reason more and more teens and young adults begin “smoking” electronic cigarettes.

Electronic cigarettes are no longer news in many countries because it is already in the market in more 250 different brands and the number of users is increasing tremendously. However, the truth about safety issues of e-cigarettes is not known. Other people claim that the e-cigarettes are a way out to the smokers to help them quit smoking (Eversmoke, n.d.).

However, there is a new issue that has become increasingly common recently. Teen vaping is a serious issue that should be addressed immediately. This has raised fears in society as it is been decade, we tried to combating and decreasing the numbers of smokers (Dennis). Also, a research found that teenagers who used this device are 3 times more likely to smoke regular cigarettes compared to those who had never use this device as a lot of parents are fine with their children using this device and they are not aware of the danger of it (Spencer). Moreover, there is more report that children drinking the e-cigarette juice and become horribly ill. For example a case in New York where a toddler died after ingesting liquid nicotine intended for use in an e-cigarette as many parents unaware of the safety risks to children from unsafe storage of e-liquid.

Vaping has become a popular product on the market, but some of the effects it has on the body make it a worse choice than smoking. Those who vape are susceptible to bronchitis or severe cough, teary or dry eyes, and lung cancer.

Today smoking has been less widely accepted and more restricted because of the many health risks that are linked to smoking cigarette. These days, people are well educated and more knowledgeable about the health risks of smoking.
