Imagine a mascot that a community rallies around, but not a single person can see. This mascot serves no purpose if it is not on any shirts, uniforms, or bumpers of cars. How difficult is it to rally around a mascot if it cannot be seen? The truth is, it is difficult, yet countless high schools across the United States ban merchandise containing the devil or other mascots including our East Jordan High School. The school can not buy, produce, or sell any apparel bearing the red devil on it. East Jordan Public Schools must allow the devil logo on apparel due to its inoffensive nature,ADJECTIVE spirit, and overwhelming support. East Jordan Public Schools must primarily allow the devil logo because of its inoffensive nature. In virtue of the Red Devil being our current mascot, it is imperative that it is on our apparel. The devil is not intended as an evil idol of worship, but rather as a mascot with spirit. The devil is not reflecting “Satan,” but is strictly for school spirit. It is essential to allow the devil on the apparel because most people in the community are in favor of it. Only a few people in our community are in disagreement. A majority of christians, the religion where the devil originates, are even in support of the red devil. Obviously, if a large majority is in favor of the mascot, it would be evident to allow it. Additionally, it builds unity because the whole community would wear East Jordan devils on their shirts. Everybody in the town of East Jordan will own a shirt. Due to this, everyone in our community will instantly recognize our logo to be the school mascot. This will furthermore unite the community together, and even raise sales at the school store.
