Eating Disorders: Differences Between Anorexia And Bulimia

Anorexia and bulimia are two very common eating disorders that can be very dangerous to a person's mental and physical health. When talking about eating disorder the most common ones talked about is obesity, being overweight, but why does nobody talk about being under weight. Anorexia has the highest mortally rate among all the eating disorders but most people would just classify in as being under weight. Bulimia and Anorexia are not just only an eating disorders but emotional problems but so often these problems are made fun of in main stream media, something only supermodels have to get the perfect body. Anorexia, according to National Eating Disorders Association, is an intense fear of gaining weight or getting fat, even if severely underweight, this usually causes someone to not eat. Anorexia can be very difficult to spot in certain victims before it is too late, someone who may be already small in stature can just stop eating and it may be difficult to tell the difference. Some of the symptoms of anorexia are: extreme weight loss, thin appearance dizziness or fainting, bluish discoloration of the fingers, hair that thins, breaks or falls out ,dry or yellowish skin, intolerance of cold, irregular heart rhythms. Bulimia is pretty easy to spot, symptoms of bulimia include: binge eating followed by self-induced purge, a feeling of being out of control when eating, and negative self-image. Many people who suffer from bulimia also suffer from substance abuse, self-harm, and impulsivity.
