The Aztec's lifestyle changed due to Spain's harsh conquering, which caused many Aztec people illness, Spain also changed the entire economy and the Aztecs had to adjust to a new hierarchy.

The Aztec lifestyle included specific religious practices, strict laws and many other innovative ways of life. Whereas Spain had very different beliefs and traditions. When the Aztecs were conquered by Spain in 1521, their habits were altered extremely. The Aztec citizens battled the Spanish until defeat. Even after combat with the Spanish, many other obstacles were waiting to be overcome. Some hardships included virus and disease which were problematic to endure. Following the illness, major economic changes came about. In pursuit of the economy alterations, slavery transpired for the Aztec citizens. Aztec manner changed extremely during the times of Illness, economic change, and slavery.

When the economy goes up or down, it takes some getting used to, but could you imagine if your country was taken over and your conquerors put in a different economy? This was exactly what the Aztecs had to imagine, in fact, they had to adapt to it. When Spain took over, they swept away the Aztec economy and replaced it with their own, which was called the encomienda. The encomienda was a system where Spanish settlers would get a land grant and a certain amount of Aztec slave laborers to run the land. The Aztec economy before the encomienda was based on three main things, goods, trade and tribute. The Aztec economy was a fair system where workers got paid and citizens were happy. Due to the Spanish encomienda, the Aztecs were compelled by force into slavery for the Spanish
