St. Clair High School is a coed, public high school in St. Clair, Michigan. It holds classes for students in grades through 9 through 12. There are around 900 pupils enrolled, and the student-to-teacher ratio is 22:1. The gender divide is even. The graduation rate is 97 percent, and the College Readiness Index is 31.8. After state assessments show 61 percent are proficient in English and 43 percent are proficient in Mathematics. SCHS is part of the East China School District. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. In order to graduate, 22 credits in subjects mandated by the Michigan Merit Standard. Required classes are in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, Health, Arts, and Physical Education. Additional credits are made up with electives. Advanced Placement courses in Calculus, Biology, Physics, and English. In certain instances, a personal curriculum the modifies the Michigan Merit Standard can be substituted. Dual enrollment courses are available to those who qualify. Qualifications include enrollment in an accredited school or college and a qualifying score on a standardized test. Virtual, distant learning and correspondence course work is another option. A maximum number of credit hours obtained through non-traditional course work. For example, 6 credits are the maximum allowed for correspondence course work. Summer school, independent learning, and exchange programs are alternate methods of earning credits. Programs are available for pupils who are hospitalized or homebound and can't attend regular classroom instruction.
