Parenting is one of the most crucial jobs in the world. One wrong decision could change fate for the worse. Nonetheless, with the right amount of naturing, it could turn a naive child into an independent, intellectual, diligent and mature adults, a result of good parenting. Good parenting comes from the making of these crucial decisions, in the case of Mr. Ed Boone, that helps Christopher, Ed Boone’s only child, succeed in life. It can evidently be seen, through the love and care that he displays, that Ed Boone is a sublime parent. In, the curious incident of the dog in the night time, written by Mark Haddon, it exhibits that Mr. Boone is a great parent because he dearly cares for Christopher, wants him to be happy and that he loves him.

Mr. Boone always attempts to make Christopher enjoy the world around him and not think about the negatives in life. This is indirectly seen when Christopher comments, “Unless Father takes me out somewhere on an outing to the boating or garden center” (34). Here, Christopher says that his dad, Mr. Boone, takes him different places. Telling the reader that Ed tries to keep Christopher as entertained as possible, so he does not get bored a lot. Additionally, Ed strives to eradicate all the sorrow and pessimism. This can distinctly be seen when Christopher divulges, during his conversation with his dad, “Then he came back with a golden retriever” (219). This demonstrates that Ed wants Christopher to stay positive and joyful, even after his pet rat, Toby, dies. Hence, he buys the puppy, as Christopher loves dogs.
