The book starts off pretty fast when Christopher Boone, a teenage boy with high functioning autism, finds his neighbor’s dead dog, Wellington, on her front lawn with a pitchfork sticking out of it. He decides to write a murder mystery about it because he likes murder mystery novels. Mrs. Shears finds Christopher with the dead dog and calls the police, which lands him a spot in a jail cell for a few hours. Christopher wants to figure out the mystery behind the dead dog, but his father tells him to leave it alone. The rule, however, leaves it up to interpretation. Christopher asks around the neighborhood about the dead dog. Eventually, we find out that Christopher’s father was the one who killed the dog because he had feelings for Mrs. Shears,
