I really enjoyed reading this book. The author is Ed Catmull, president of Pixar. Pixar is the first company that produced an animated feature film entirely generated by computer, Toy Story. The purpose of the book is not however to tell the story of Pixar, but of the management principles that Catmull has managed to distil, together with his team, of the experience of creating Pixar and guide to its integration in Disney and beyond. Catmull focuses primarily on how to promote and protect the creativity, which is clearly the essence of a company with the success of the one we are dealing with.

The balance is very fine between achieving build on what we have learned and continue to explore and innovate. A phrase of Catmull that I liked is when he refers to "the best way to predict the future is to create it yourself". The most powerful thing that this book has and it is noteworthy is that it teaches the reader how to embrace themselves in any business the are planning to make. Like for example; throughout the book Catmull devotes a whole chapter explaining what he calls the "Beast" which is the part of the organization that is concentrated in producing and maintaining cash flow without stopping with the "baby ugly" (I mean better as the ugly duckling) which are all projects emerging that need room to grow and protection to bring good port. Nor should we leave a "anything goes" nor should we allow the govern financial the organization. He says that we should be able to finance and manage the enterprise in the way we think it is appropriate, and ask advice from our team; but not let the government lead all the way, especially in the financial subject.
