Imagine as if you were my client, a psychopath with a mental illness and Palpitations. As a freak of society, out of place, this is what my client felt at the of the murder, with the evidence I have gathered I rest my case… This man is not guilty by reason of insanity, and this is the story of why.

Edgar is a clear psychopath, thus being insane. Before I tell you why you must understand the definition of a psychopath. A psychopath is “: a mentally ill or unstable person; especially: one who does not feel guilty about not living up to normal social and moral responsibilities and exhibits a disregard for the feelings and safety of others”. Mental illnesses are associated with distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. Solely based on Edgar’s confession, having him being mentally ill is a great possibility when we do further testing. I gather a few pieces from the confession prove my point, “ You fancy me mad. madmen know nothing. You should have seen me. You should have seen how proceeded with what caution-with word foresight- with what dissimulation.” That proves my point as well as this, “ they were making a mockery of my horror!-This I thought, and this I think. But anything was better than this agony Anything was more tolerable than this derision!” Both of this points are a small piece of the mental illness that Edgar truly has. It is also suiting to mention that Edgar may possibly have the IQ of 65, this maybe farfetched to you as he planned out the murder so well, but a sentence from the confession prove my point, “for it was not the old man who vexed me, but his evil eye.” and also this line, “ Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold, I had no desire. I think it was his eye! yes, it was this!
