Pollard,Basil English III Ms.Roelse April,26,2016 Research Assignment Ahead of his time When it comes to Edgar Allan Poe,a phrase like ¨thinking outside of the box¨ doesn’t even come close to describing the ingenious work he put out. He was extremely ahead of his time and if you look into his life you can clearly tell. He was a child of performing artists, Poe never truly knew his parents. His dad left the family when Poe was an infant, and his mom passed away when he was just three. Away from his family, Poe went to live with John and Frances Allan, and his wife, in Richmond, Virginia,which he was adopted from. Poe needed to go to West Point, a military foundation, and won a spot there in 1830. Before going to West Point, he distributed a second gathering Al Aaraaf, Tamerlane, and Minor Poems . Poe exceeded expectations at at West Point,He did so good he was sergeant major. After he left west point he moved around looking for jobs , living in New York City, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Richmond. From 1831 to 1835, he stayed in Baltimore with his close relative Maria Clemm and her little girl Virginia.
