Edgar Allan Poe was admitted to the hospital and was given a private room for drunkenness then died a few days later. Poe was drunk when he arrived at the hospital and he drank too much. Although some people may say Poe died from rabies, he actually died from alcohol abuse because he was always drinking and drunk. Poe was drunk when he arrived at the hospital and didn’t know how he had gotten there. In the passage “Poe’s Final Days” it states, “According to Dr. Moran. Poe was really drunk when he arrived at the hospital. Poe was not aware of how he had gotten there. He stayed like that until three O’clock the next morning, October 4. At that time, his arms and legs were shaking and had what Dr. Moran called “a busy, but not violent confusion.” His face was pale and he was covered in sweat.” This evidence shows that Poe could have died from alcohol abuse because he was drunk at the hospital, so that could have caused his death.
