Edis's Story: A Walk In The Water

It was a beautiful sunny day and Edis was preparing for his boat rowing team meet at the peter jay boat house on the Hudson river. He was super exited to be rowing that day because the weather was perfect and he knew the waves would be easy to handle. If only he knew what was coming. When edis got to the team meet, his coach decided to go over a few drills and techniques in the water. So edis and his eight other teammates got in to the boat, and secured their feet tightly to the bottom so no one could end up flying out. They then started paddling in the water with their ores. Their coach yelled out TURN THE BOAT! Everything happened so quickly that when it was time to turn the boat, it was to late. Suddenly the boat flipped over the opposite way. Edis was overwhelmed with fear. He was slowly drowning under water. He had previously buckled his feet to the boat and now he was stuck. He tugged and pulled but nothing worked. All of his team mates were out of the water and he was the only one left. He started to feel light headed and he felt the need to give up. That’s it he thought, my life is over. Just when he thought his life had come to an end, a big rush of adrenalin kicked in. he knew that he had to get himself out of this situation. So he tugged and pulled again for this time he pulled even harder. Finally, he was able to swim out and he was reunited with his team. The coach decided to do a head count to make sure everyone was out of the boat. He noticed that there were only seven kids standing before him and he started to panic. The kid that was first on the boat went missing. The coach then jumped into the water to look for his missing student. A few moments later, the coach came out of the water, and in his arms lied the missing child. He quickly put him
