Edmund Emil Kemper Edmund Emil Kemper was a serial killer who killed six young women and several members of his family. He is known as the co-ed killer. He was charged with eight accounts of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Kemper was born on December 18, 1948, in Burbank, California. He was the middle child of E. E. and Clarnell Kemper. His parents divorced in 1957 and he moved with his mother and two sisters to Montana. He had a very troubled childhood; mostly his relationship with his alcoholic mother. On August 27,1964 he shot and killed his grandmother in the kitchen after a small argument. He said he killed her to see what it felt like.
