Edmund Kemper was a serial killer that ended up killed six young women and several members of his family. Edmund was born on December 18, 1948 in Burbank, California. Edmund his childhood was rough with his alcoholic mother. His mother would mentally abuse him, she would call him all kinds of names and tell him that no women would ever love him. He hated his mother. His mother made him live in the basement away from his sisters because she thought he might hurt them in some way. He was the middle child and his parents were divorced. His trouble started at an early age. It started with dark thoughts about killing his mother and also cutting the heads off of his sister’s dolls. All of these occasions were spread throughout the year. He admitted to killing 6 young female hitchhikers. He would pick the females up, drive them to an isolated area, strangle, stab, and shoot them. He would choose his victims by the either the kind of day he was having or if the females were mean or humiliating just like his mother. This would fall under being a “kidnap murder”. He would be so frustrated that he would have killed anyone that had stepped foot in his car. That’s not all he would do though, he would cut the heads off of the young girls and would bring them back to his house to had sexual intercourse with the dead bodies head that he had cut off. Due to the anger he had with his mother, he buried one of the dead bodies in his mother’s garden. The Santa Cruz area was on edge because of the unsolved murders. Kemper’s mother had worked at the college where Edmund had picked up all of the females. They ended up saying at the college that you shouldn’t get in the car unless they have a campus sticker but Edmund had a sticker because his mother worked there. A warning was posted at the University of California, Santa Cruz said: “When possible, girls especially, stay in dorms after midnight with doors locked. If you must be out at night, walk in pairs. If you see a campus police patrol car and wave, they will give you a ride. Use the bus even if somewhat inconvenient. Your safety is of first importance. If you are leaving campus, advise someone where you are going, where you can be reached and the approximate time of your return. DON’T HITCH A RIDE, PLEASE!” When he would pick up the females most of them would be nervous to get in because of what had been happening around the area but he would play these little tricks to make it seem like he was just an average guy.
