When media outlets are controlled by the general public, those outlets tend to contain some sort of bias. Whether that bias relates to race, gender, or political affiliation, nearly all news/media outlets have a bias towards a certain topic. These biases can be found in the topics of the NSA surveillance programs and Edward Snowden’s affiliation to the NSA. Each news station, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, ABC News, CBS News, and BBC news, all have their own opinions of the NSA surveillance programs, more specifically, the impact of Edward Snowden on the National Government. The citizens of the United States are split on the issue of Edward Snowden. Edward Snowden released pertinent information about the NSA surveillance programs to the general public regarding the surveillance of the American citizen’s phone calls. What does this mean? Conservatives majorly side with the view that the NSA surveillance programs are unconstitutional and are an invasion of man’s right to privacy. Fox News recently interviewed Judge Napolitano where they questioned Napolitano on his stance towards the NSA and Edward Snowden (Judge 2). Judge Napolitano stated that "When you do that and you succeed, you're considered a hero and you're a patriot. When you do that and you fail, you end up in the gallows or in jail (Judge 2)." ‘That’ is referring to the actions of Edward Snowden who also stated that "There have been times throughout American history where what is right is not the same as what is legal. Sometimes to do the right thing you have to break the law (Snowden 2)." The basis of what these two gentlemen are stating is that doing the right thing might not always be legal in the general public’s eyes. This is the case with Snowden, whom many believe is a
