The Half that Has Never Been Told, by Edward Baptist, is a book that details the facts of slavery from the late 1700’s up until the late 1800’s. It is not only a book detailing the history of slavery, the book takes a different stance than most and really talks about the economic benefit of slavery. Baptist also talks about how the way the slave owners thought and ran their businesses and handled money relations, it founded the same style of capitalism we as Americans still use today. Each chapter is titled from some body part of the human body and that provides a real unique to a touchy subject and allows the book to be an easy and fun read. Chapter 1, titled “Feet”, describes the unfree movement to enslaved frontiers that were founded between

January 1066 was a time of chaos for medieval England. There were three people claiming the throne for themselves, and the result changed Europe forever. There was William, Duke of Normandy, whom Edward had been friends with since they were children. Lastly, there was Harald Hadraada, a Norwegian noble who was given a claim to the English throne by King Magnus of Norway.

This sermon, delivered by Jonathon Edwards, is one of the most renowned throughout the time of the Great Awakening. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God was effective and persuasive in nature, so much that it convinced several individuals to convert and repent for their sins. Although Edwards was a theologian and preached among several of his faith, it was not the main factor of the sermon’s appeal; however, the literary contents were and it contributed to the sermon’s credibility as well as its beauty. The main factors of this appeal are the styles in which he writes, the tone in which it was written in, and the content of the sermon.
Edward VI did not do much but he did introduce the choice of following Protestantism or not. This allowed for religious diversity, until Mary brought back the Catholic beliefs. That scared many away from England and left the country in fear. Finally, Elizabeth returned the country to its normal state with sensible religious rules allowing some religious diversity. She is the one who brought the success and without her England likely would not be the country that it is today.

In sinners in the hands of an angry God Jonathan Edward’s most effectively appeals to the people who have yet to convert to a puritan's by using rhetorical analysis. One of the first metaphors he uses was when he was describing the fire that God holds you over and if provoked (when you sin) he will drop you down to hell. He uses a great analogy when he talks about it because he says”The God that holds you over the pit of hell much as one holds a spider or some loathsome insect over the fire”, and that is a real interpretation of what we are to God in Edward’s eyes. All these metaphors can also be used as imagery too because the author uses such good words and phrases it good that you can imagine what he is saying.
The first one was to kill Grendal. The second one was to kill Grendal’s mom. The third and final one was to fight the dragon with his servant. When he came back after defeating Grendal and his mom, he became king, so the people were happy and glorified him and let him become their king.
