Poetry With a Unique Twist Background Edward Estlin Cummings was a very famous poet known for his unique style of poetry. He was born on October 14, 1894, in Cambridge Massachusetts. He attended Harvard for school where he took variety of courses revolving around arts and poetry. After school he went to France to volunteer during World War 1 as an ambulance driver. During his time in France he was put into jail for suspicious of treason from some letters he had sent. During his time in jail he wrote a biography called The Enormous Room’s, which eventually become published and become very successful. As soon as United States joined World War 1 Cummings was drafted into the U.S army. Another one of Cummings accomplishments was his collection of poems called Tulips and Chimneys. It was published in 1923. His way of unconventional writing brought much attention to it. E.E Cummings has become one of the most well known poets today through his unique writing style. This poem stuck out to me because of the distinctive writing characteristics. The poet breaks the grammar rules and creates his own writing style. I also love the way the poem created butterflies in your stomach well you read it and allows your mind to feel as if the poet is talking to you. The poet express his love in such a dramatic way where you can feel his love for his lover it makes it a very appealing poem. During the time of when the poem came out, Cummings style of poetry was not seen before. He depicted the modern poet with his style and passion for writing about love.
