The Olympic games have been around for a long time, and within that time they've shaped into something new. The Games have reformed especially in the aspect of who gets to compete. Firstly, the Olympic games hit some bumps in the road when the many different countries faced nationalism, like the conflict between the countries as a result of wanting to win. Secondly, there were people who wanted the games to return to bring peace, like the organizers of previous games. Also, there were some people who wanted the Olympic for financial reasons. Lastly, within each and every topic discussed the changes that took place are transparent; example would be the allowance of women to compete.
To begin, supporters of the games spoke their minds using the topic of peace as their argument. Large amounts of people revolted against the subject of the games because of the conflicts that were aroused and the segregation that hid in the flaws, but not all had that outlook. Document 5 includes the statement of the Mayor of Tokyo in 1972. In his statement he states that the games helped his city rise in world trade power. On that note, in document 9 they show a graph representing the increasing numbers in money for the Olympic committee to gain TV and radio broadcast rights. The Olympic games have a ton of money hiding in its name. Millions of dollars are spent every game that follows. To continue, in document 7 they discuss the topic of the sponsors. The sponsors are one of the main things that help the Olympics happen in the first place. The money helps make the medals and to broadcast everything live. This can be beneficial, like it was for Tokyo, or it can be negative in the aspect of the amount spent. That amount increases every year making the reputation of the games Increase to a higher level in the social ranking
