In 1967 a social studies teacher performed an experiment to show his students what it was like in Nazi Germany. The Wave By Todd Stasser is a book based on a real life experiment where a social studies teacher attempted to recreate the environment of Nazi Germany to prove a point to his students. The Wave movement had both positive and negative effects on students and still has a lingering effect on them today. The wave had many positive effects on students throughout the movement. Mr Ross was still explaining what the wave was doing and it was spearing quickly throughout the school. Strasser states “The class was not falling behind. If anything they were completing their assigned lessons even faster than usual. Using the rapid question and answer style that the wave inspired”(Strasser 65). Laurie was walking home after staying late at school to hang up anti wave posters. Strasser says “‘I hate you!’ The words struck David like a hard slap in the face. Almost out of control he screamed ‘shut up!’ and threw her down on the grass her books went flying as she roughly fell to the ground”(Strasser 114). This just goes to show that the wave is making innocent people act out and be violent to people that are friends. I just told him I didnt feel like it then he got mad. He just said pretty soon people in the wave wouldn't want to be friends with people who weren't in it” (Strasser 81-82).
