Video games A. Summary Do violent video games cause crime? is a newscast from the Australian news show Sunrise. The newscast is from 11th August 2012. In the video psychiatrist Dr. Az, online campaigner Geordie Guy, and the two news hosts are discussing the connection between violent video games and crime. There has been a great deal of crime, where the ones doing the crime, has played violent video games. Some of the crimes are the Columbine High School shooting and the Utøya massacre. Geordie Guy says that there is no link between violent video games and real-life crime. The argument, he comes with is that there have been about 30 years of research and the research shows that there is no link. Dr. Az supplements that the 30 years of research never shows that there are longer-term effects of playing video games. He thinks that the effect that comes with playing video games depends on the individual. Some have a big temperament and are more vulnerable. For these children, it is probably not a good idea to play violent video games. Dr. Az and Geordie Guy also talk about the video games getting progressively more realistic. Even if that is the situation, Geordie Guy thinks that it is a thing to play violent video games and a whole other thing to do a crime.
