Racial stereotypes are promoted and tackled in the play, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity. The story is told from the perspective of a professional Puerto Rican wrestler, Mace. Although Mace is talented and skilled, his ethnic background prevents him from becoming the champion because the owner of the wrestling company, EKO, largely relies on ethnic stereotypes to advertise his wrestlers. While working in the largest wrestling organization, Mace describes his primary duty as a “Jobber to the Stars.
